The Art of Dying is a side quest of tracking down Salutor Moran in the game The Thaumaturge. From the walkthrough you will learn who is the person with the Flaw in the Powisle district, how to investigate the crime scene, how to follow the commissioner's thoughts, and where the Kajetan artist's hovel is.

One of the most important side missions in The Thaumaturge is The Art of Dying. The main objective is to find Salutor Morana and the person with the Flaw, with whom the creature is connected. The walkthrough in our guide explains how to start the quest in the Powisle district, how to search the crime scene, how to follow Commissioner Pelevin's thoughts, where to find Kajetan's cottage and what traces can be found in the artist's hovel.

Unlocking the side quest

1. You can start the quest at the earliest in Act 1, after unlocking access to the Powisle district in Warsaw.
2. Reach the river bank in the north-eastern part of the district. You will find a crime scene related to this quest and to Salutor Morana, who will emerge from the water. You will discover the observation Vision on the Bank.

Investigation of the murder site

1. You need to examine the area marked with a red circle. You can find the observations Snuffed Candles and Easel.
2. You will find a crime scene with 2 policemen standing next to it. You will learn that a local serial killer called Fisherman is behind the murder and you will unlock the Fisherman trail.
3. Talk to Kajetan too, i.e. the artist busy painting the crime scene. You unlock the perceptions: The Corpse Painter and The Suicide.

Following the thoughts of Commissioner Pelevin

1. Set the active mission objective to follow the commissioner's thoughts and turn on perception so that a red trail appears, which you will have to follow. Move away from the crime scene.
2. Pelevin's thoughts will lead Wiktor to an alley in the western part of Powisle, as shown in the image. There's also the trace Crumpled Message.
3. When you try to leave this location, you will be stopped by a group of thugs, who must be defeated. Remember to select Salutors to disable the protective features of your enemies.

Finding a person with the Flaw related to Morana

1. Get back to the crime scene. Kajetan will reveal that the police took away the body of the serial killer's victim.
2. On the pier there are fishermen you can talk to. Ask them about their suspicions regarding the murderer's identity. They will point to Kajetan. You will receive observations The Prime Suspect, The Hovel and Local Moods.
3. You need to find the artist's hovel in the Powisle district. This building is in the south-eastern part of Powisle - as shown in the image above. In front of the cottage, you will have to fight a group of drunks - it's an easy fight though.
4. Go inside and find the observations Message from the Commissioner, Exclusive Brushes, Finished Paintings and Dirty Rags. You unlock the conclusions The Fisherman Case and The Freak from Powisle.

Confronting Kajetan

1. Leave the artist's workshop and return to the crime scene. You need to talk to Kajetan again.
2. The traces discovered earlier will unlock new questions you can ask. The conversation will lead to the unveiling of the artist's Flaw - you will unlock the Flaw observation and the Queen of the Depths conclusion.
3. Law enforcement officers will appear on the spot and Kajetan will be arrested despite the lack of hard evidence. You will unlock the Disappointment observation.
