Melatonin is a musical rhythm game in which reality mixes with dreams - in a somewhat surreal setting of a distinctive art style kept almost entirely in a soft pastel purple-pink color scheme with blue accents. It was developed and published by Canadian indie studio Half Asleep.
Plot
In Melatonin we plunge into the mind of the sleeping main character. As we play him in his daydreams, we learn about the successive elements that make up his life shown in a somewhat surreal setting.
Game mechanics
The game is made up of many different levels, each with its own soundtrack and unique rhythm, in accordance with which we have to press buttons to score the highest number of points. More stages and modes (such as the Challenge Module and Level Editor) are unlocked gradually as we progress. The style of the levels is somewhat absurd, as befits dreams - in the rhythm of music we come to, among other things, swallow burgers while sitting on a flying chair, or jump on endless stairs built of smartphones.
