Unlike common resources, Dark Matter isn’t simply lying around, waiting for you to pick it up. You can’t buy it from vendors or acquire it from defeated foes. The only way to obtain Dark Matter is through specific mini-games, and the reward is only for those who can achieve the highest ranks.

2. Corel – rank II in Galactic Saviors on Expert in Gold Saucer.
3. Corel – win the Kujata Stampede challenge in the Chocobo Race in Gold Saucer.
4. Corel – rank II in G-Bike on Expert in Gold Saucer.
5. Corel – defeat Shiva in 3D Brawler in Gold Saucer.
6. Corel Desert – rank III in Cactuar Crush III.
7. Corel Desert – rank IV in Cactuar Crush IV.
8. Dustbowl – rank II in Gold Rush on Challenging.

Dark Matter is used as a crafting resource in Transmuter, a new item introduced in FF7 Rebirth, that allows you to forge equipment and other objects with any raw materials you can find.
