Techtonica

Techtonica is a cross between a simulation and an economic strategy game, tasking us with building futuristic factories in an alien world. It was developed by an indie studio Fire Hose Games.

Plot

Techtonica is set on - or, rather, beneath - the titular planet. This alien, mostly uncharted globe is home to bioluminescent plants, various secrets and abundant resource deposits. The player must extract those resources, construct complex industrial systems and build factories.

Mechanics

Techtonica is a first-person game. Before we can start extracting resources, we must dig out tunnels and vast halls to hold our factories. Afterwards, it's time to start mining.

Though initially the pace is very slow, soon enough we'll start crafting more advanced tools and creating complex industrial systems, including networks of conveyor belts to transport resources with. This means over time each process gets faster, easier and more automated.

The time and processing power we save by automation should be spent on exploring Techtonica; the planet's depths hide cave systems, valuable rewards and ancient artifacts. Finding them unlocks new blueprints, and thus increasngly powerful technology.

Game modes

Techtonica supports singleplayer and co-op for up to four people.

Technical aspects

Techtonica makes use of an appealing, colorful artstyle. The soundtrack was composed by Cityfires, also known for 20XX and Catlateral Damage: Remeowstered.
