The release of Rise of the Ronin, a new exclusive title for PlayStation 5, is right around the corner, and the devs are treating us to more gameplay videos that showcase the main character slicing through enemies. This time we saw how brutally we will be able to use eight types of weapons while traversing 19th century Japan.

Eight videos related to Rise of the Ronin were released yesterday on the PlayStation Japan YouTube channel, with each one lasting less than a minute. The developers showed us a fight using both melee and firearms (the latter was discussed more extensively in a recent film). During our adventure we will get:

  1. odachi a Japanese type of long sword with a huge range;
  2. long sword - quite similar to the odachi, but giving the impression of being more massive; you can use it to spin your opponent (literally!);
  3. katana - an "ordinary," practical and standard weapon in a clash with a rival;
  4. dual katana - short blades that deal quick blows;
  5. bayonet - thanks to it, we can stab our opponents and shoot at them at the same time.

In addition, we can have a naginata - a blade mounted on a shaft - and a spear at our disposal. Of course, there will be ranged weapons, including shotguns, pistols, bows, and shurikens.

Finally, it's worth mentioning that Rise of the Ronin will be available for purchase on March 22, exclusively for PlayStation 5.
