The complete edition

Owners of PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S and Xbox Series X have two options to play Metro Exodus. Firstly, they can play the last-gen version of the game using backward compatibility.

There's also a version of Metro Exodus prepared with next-gen in mind, the Complete Edition. It was released on 18 June 2021 and is available on:

1. PS5 - digital and physical,
2. Xbox Series X - digital and physical,
3. Xbox Series S - digital and physical.

Key info on next-gen version

1. Metro Exodus The Complete Edition includes both story expansions: The Two Colonels and Sam's Story. These used to be available as The Golden Edition, or as separate purchases. In the case of The Complete Edition these are part of the bundle and require no additional purchase. You may, however, have to get a free season pass on the PlayStation Store to be able to download the expansions, as they're not installed along with the core game by default.
2. On PS5 and Xbox Series X, the game runs in 4K @60 fps.
3. On Xbox Series S you can play in 1080p @60fps.
4. Metro Exodus The Complete Edition allows you to enable ray-tracing while maintaining the 60fps. The next-gen versions also offer textures in higher resolution.
5. The new edition of Metro Exodus offers shorter loading times taking advantage of the SSDs used in PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
6. The PS5 version supports haptic capabilities of the DualSense game pad, which is meant to increase immersion.
7. The version for Xbox Series S and Xbox Series X offers surround sound support.
8. If you own Metro Exodus on PS4 or the Xbox One you can get a free upgrade to PS5 or Xbox Series, but it will be available a little later.
