Patience pays off
Keep in mind that you are fighting a powerful opponent. You will learn the boss's behavior by being patient, letting you spot its series of openings, which you can then exploit.
Summoning spirit ashes
You can use this method during almost every boss fight (except for those in the Eternal Prison). The spirit will prove to be a great help in the boss fight by being a distraction while also dealing significant damage.
Use your mount
At the beginning of the game, you get the option to use Torrent. This is a very useful ability, especially when fighting dragon bosses. This will allow you to move faster to avoid attacks or get closer to the enemy.
Summon other players wisely
Summoning other players can helpful, but it also make the fight more difficult. It all really depends on the skill of the player you call into your world. Keep in mind that no matter how weak or good the player is, once you've summoned them, the boss's health bar always increases. For this reason, if you summon another player and they die quickly, you have only made the boss fight harder for yourself.
Read other players messages
If you're playing online, you can read messages left by other players. They frequently contain interesting tips that reveal the boss's weak points, such as their vulnerability to a given status, or the option to parry their attacks.
Use consumables
Many of them can provide interesting buffs, such as increasing your physical damage. Some may add effects to your weapon, such as hemorrhage. Many players forget about them, even though they can prove extremely useful in a variety of situations.
Get under the legs of the big bosses
In the case of large bosses, you can often walk under their legs, preventing most of their attacks from landing. However, be careful, because if you stay there too long, they may step on you and crush you.
