Warhammer 40K: Dawn of War 2 With Survival Co-op Thanks to Elite Mod [Update: new faction added]
A new version of the Elite Mod project, one of the most important mods for Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War II - Retribution, has been released. Among other things, the project has recently gained new skirmish modes and a survival variant for solo or co-op play.
Update
The test version of the next version of the mod, numbered 2.9.9.2, has been released. The most important change is the addition of a new playable faction in the form of the Ordo Malleus, the Empire's most powerful Inquisition faction. Previously, its members were part of an army of space marines. Now they have been separated into a separate faction, while adding many new types of units. The resulting army has unique models, its own soundtrack and voiceovers.
In addition, many technical elements of the mod have been changed. It now has its own .exe file and loads new elements into Dawn of War II much more efficiently. This is a very important change, as it will allow Elite Mod developers to add new factions to the game more easily in the future. .

Relic Entertainment has been having a rough time in recent years. Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War III turned out to be a disaster and has been abandoned. In turn, this year most players were disappointed by the quality and content of Company of Heroes 3. Interestingly, however, thanks to creative fans, the earlier installments of both series are still doing very well. A great example of this is the recently released update to Elite Mod, which is one of the most popular modifications for Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War II - Retribution.
The latest edition of the mod is marked with the number 2.9.9. It mainly focuses on improving the numerous new features recently introduced to the project:
- Improved versions of new gameplay modes have been implemented within the skirmish option, which we can play both in multiplayer and in skirmishes against AI. Among these new features is a variant of Massive Battles with a 200-unit limit, Hero Assault, in which we can use all heroes in a single battle, and Night Fight, where clashes are fought at night, resulting in worse visibility for troops.
- A more expanded version of the new survival mode has also been introduced (you'll find it in the campaign menu in the Imperial section), in which you play a series of missions, having to fight against waves of enemies. You can play in it alone or in co-op. Previously, this mode was available in a much more simplified form and could mess up campaign saves, which has been fixed.
- On top of that, a ton of technical bugs were removed and the balance of gameplay was improved.
Recall that Elite Mod is a project that aims to generally improve both single player and multiplayer gameplay. Thanks to the mod, all armies have gained many additional units. Another faction of Space Marines has also been implemented in the form of the Order of Grey Knights. On top of that, there are new gameplay modes.
Elite Mod is currently a must-have item for all fans of Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War II - Retribution. Not only because of the scale of improvements, but also because the project has a large community, where something is happening all the time - various events are organized, and players can compete in regular tournaments.
