Path of Exile 2

Path of Exile 2 is a vast update to Path of Exile, a 2013 online action RPG inspired by the Diablo series. It is still being developed by the New Zealand-based studio Grinding Gear Games. Path of Exile 2 was announced in November 2019 at the ExileCon 2019.

Mechanics

Path of Exile 2 is a completely new chapter for Path of Exile. It features a new story campaign consisting of seven acts, taking place twenty years after the base game. Starting the game, players need to create an entirely new character. The available classes initially remain the same. Gaining experience and completing certain quests lets us unlock nineteen entirely new Ascendancy Classes later on. The inventory, gems and skills systems have been completely redesigned, based on the fans' suggestions.

Technical aspects

Path of Exile 2 features noticeably enhanced visuals. Some improvements include new lighting, object physics, better animations and 3D models. It's worth noting Path of Exile and Path of Exile 2 are both available from the same game client. Both games also share the same endgame, revamped in the 2019 expansion Path of Exile: Conquerors of the Atlas. This means all cosmetics and materials purchased through microtransactions can be used in both games. The sequel remains free-to-play. It's available as a free 4.0 update to the base game.
