AC Odyssey: Completing quest guide Assassin's Creed Odyssey Guide and Walkthrough

Last update: 29 May 2020

Assassin's Creed: Odyssey features hundreds of various quests. Among them you can find important and complex main quests as well as small missions (which are usually random) which can provide you XP or better equipment. This page contains important information and tips for quests, i.e. how to unlock quests, what are the available game types and what rewards you can get for completing quests. Walkthroughs for all the missions can be found in separate chapters.

Basic information about quests

1 - AC Odyssey: Completing quest guide - Tips - Assassins Creed Odyssey Guide
  1. You can receive new quests automatically by making progress in the game, by meeting with NPCs and by examining bulletin boards found in larger locations.
  2. Try to add every new quest to your journal at the earliest possible opportunity, especially quests that are more randomized. You may have to, i.e. eliminate a few specific enemies - the kills are counted only when you add this quest to your journal. Try to find quest givers when you visit a bigger location for the first time and collect contracts from a bulletin board.
  3. Every quest has a recommended level (the picture below shows a quest where the recommended level is 25). Trying to complete quests when you are 2-3 levels below the recommended level isn't advised - you can have a lot of problems with completing them.
  4. Quests' recommended level scales with your character's progress. Completing them won't be easy even if you have gained a few levels since the moment when that quest was added to your journal.

  1. Besides mission objectives you can also check rewards for completing that particular quest (see the picture above). You almost always get XP and drachmae. Many quests in the game give you an opportunity to receive new pieces of equipment. An item's level is the same as a quest's. For example, a quest with recommended level 20 will reward you with a new item at level 20.
  2. Besides a few exceptions, Assassin's Creed: Odyssey doesn't have quests that can be failed prematurely. This makes things easier for you. Even if a quest giver suggests you to, i.e. work from shadows, you shouldn't lose your reward by killing a few enemies in an open conflict. Timed quests are a unique group of missions. Usually, they stay in your journal for 24 hours from the moment when you unlock them. If you don't complete them in time, they will get removed from your journal (you won't get any rewards).
3 - AC Odyssey: Completing quest guide - Tips - Assassins Creed Odyssey Guide
  1. Many main and side quests in Assassin's Creed: Odyssey require you to make choices. They can be minor ones (i.e. accepting or declining a payment) but there are also those that have impact on your future adventures (i.e. killing or letting an NPC go). Try to create a new manual or quick save before you start each new quest. By doing that you will be able to quickly go back to the moment before you have started the quest - useful when you make a bad decision or when you aren't satisfied with consequences.
  2. In exceptional situations you may have a limited amount of time to choose the behavior option during a meeting with the NPC. An example of such a conversation is presented in the attached picture. Try to read the available options quickly to choose the best one. Choosing the "wrong" variant may deprive you of a chance for a reward or even in extreme cases lead to a fight. Once again, we advise you to frequently save the game so that if necessary you can quickly repeat the problematic parts of the game.
  3. Some quests items can be found even before you start quests that are related to them. These objects can be located in, i.e. chests that are in locations with enemies. Getting these items won't block you from starting their related quest. Instead, you will be able to hand them over to the quest giver immediately. Quest items have separate slots in your inventory.

Main quests

In Assassins Creed: Odyssey, all main quests can be found in Odyssey tab in your journal - AC Odyssey: Completing quest guide - Tips - Assassins Creed Odyssey Guide

In Assassin's Creed: Odyssey, all main quests can be found in Odyssey tab in your journal. Some of the quests have multiple minor Support Quests (see the picture above). Completing them helps you in making progress in their parent quest. If you don't complete them, they will be moved to the side quests tab. Also, there are chapters where you will receive a few main quests at the same time. The game allows you to complete them in any order.

Later, the game will add a tab with a group of quests called Cultists. These missions are about eliminating the Cultists of Kosmos. Many of them require a high level. You don't have to do them right away. You can focus on quests from other groups that will allow you to progress to the next episodes (chapters) of the main campaign. Locate and kill the Cultists in your free time and do that only when your level is the same as those quests.

Side quests

In Assassins Creed: Odyssey, side quests appear in two main tabs in your journal - Wold and Characters and Bounties and Contracts - AC Odyssey: Completing quest guide - Tips - Assassins Creed Odyssey Guide

In Assassin's Creed: Odyssey, side quests appear in two main tabs in your journal - Wold and Characters and Bounties and Contracts. "World and Characters" consists mainly of larger quests while "Bounties and Contracts" is a series of smaller, randomly generated, missions.

Unlike the main quests, almost all side quests have to be found by yourself:

  1. Look for quest markers on the world map. The most important ones are markers shaped like a diamond with an exclamation mark (the picture 1). The mark more complex side quests. Other marking can be for random or timed quests. It is important to know that you have to examine each region carefully if you want to find quest markers. What is more, some markers appear only when you make enough progress in the storyline. Because of that you should regularly return to previously visited regions - it is possible that a new quest giver has appeared there.
  2. Check bulletin boards. The picture 2 shows an example - these bulletin boards are in every bigger town. The majority of the quests found on them are minor missions, i.e. they are random and have a time limit. The best solution is to add all quests to your journal. Among them you can find those that require you to perform certain activities, i.e. "cleaning up" forts. This means that you can complete these quests without paying much attention to them.

Which tasks are random quests?

  1. The first type of random missions are time-limited quests, which are marked in the game map with an hourglass icon. They appear randomly in the game world and if you don't have enough time to complete such quest (the game gives you a 24 hours for each task), you won't be able to retry it immediately.
  2. The second type of random missions are quests marked on the map with the crossroads icon (example shown in the picture). They can appear in random locations and concern various things (e.g. getting rid of bandits from the nearby camp).
