One of the mechanics that may require some explaining in Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora is a hacking mini-game that appears when attempting to access computers and other devices and on this page of our guide, we comprehensively describe this topic. We show, among others, how to unlock the hacking tool (SID), how to find devices that can be accessed with the tool, and how to successfully complete the hacking mini-game.

Unlocking the SID hacking tool

1. The option to hack devices is not available from the very beginning of the game, but you don't have to wait long for it to be unlocked. During the course of Welcome to the Resistance story quest, you'll visit the Resistance HQ.
2. Here you'll meet with Alexander Tremayne. During the meeting, the hero will receive the hacking tool called Systems Interrogation Device (in short - SID).

Uses of hacking tool

You will immediately have to test 3 main uses of SID:

1. Repairing nodes - With the tool equipped, you can distinguish green cables and you have to follow them to reach the repair location. Orange means no connection. Some wires may also branch off - you then have to choose the correct branch.

1. Hacking computers and terminals - Simply approach the interactive device and equip SID to begin the hacking procedure.

1. Sabotaging machines - You can use SID on an enemy mech or exoskeleton and temporarily disable it after completing the mini-game. This will make it easier to avoid or destroy it.

Hacking mini-game

1. The first variant of the mini-game is finding the right frequency. On the screen, you can see 2 circles and you need to position them (Q and E on keyboard, analog stick on pad). The objective is to make both circles overlap. There is some comfort in the fact that you are not rushed or have a time limit on you.

1. The second variant of the mini-game is device hacking and in this case, there is unfortunately a time limit (counter in the upper part of the screen).
2. You begin in the area with an arrow - as shown in screenshot 1.
3. You have to move a shining dot - this is done via WSAD buttons (on keyboard) or left analog stick (pad).
4. The task is to lead the dot to a round marker - as shown in screenshot 2.

1. The more secure the system, the more the path will resemble a labirynth. Try to notice correct passages right away, but if the time allows it, you can backtrack to earlier junctions.
2. As you advance in the game, you can find terminals with a higher security level, where the hacking mini-game is a bit more complicated.
3. Reach the icons that open the paths - in the example in our picture, reaching point 1 will unlock the path at point 2.

1. Some hacking mini-games may also contain traps that return you to the starting point - an example is shown in the picture. Always wait right next to the trap for it to temporarily turn off and quickly move the marker to its other side.

1. To notice opportunities for hacking, while exploring the world, look for a SID icon at the bottom of the screen (example in the screenshot). This is a hint that there is a hackable device in the area and activating the Na'vi Senses may help in locating it.
