Salutor Weles is a boss from the main storyline of the game The Thaumaturge, whom you will meet in the main quest The Reptilian Bash with the soiree in the Imperial Hotel. Our guide explains when Weles will be revealed, what the boss's unique attacks are, how to subdue Weles, and what rewards you get for defeating Salutor.

Veles is another boss you'll have to face during the events of Act 1 of The Thaumaturge. Where is Veles?

1. Fight against Veles is a mandatory story event. He is one of the initial Salutors that after defeating can be tamed and in result join Wiktor's team. You will face this creature in the final stages of The Reptilian Bash story quest - for a detailed walkthrough for the mission, visit the dedicated page in our guide.
2. In the course of the quest, Wiktor will enter The Imperial Hotel and take part in a seance. The investigation undertaken there will allow you to establish that Sofya Skalon is the person who has Veles bound to her. During the seance, the protagonist confronts the woman, making her summon the Salutor.

How to defeat Veles

1. Similarly to other fights with Salutors, Wiktor will not attack Weles directly. Instead, you have to fight Shadows sent by him. Defeating them depletes chunks of the boss's health bar.
2. Try to attack shadows one by one. Note that some shadows may have Traits, such as resistances or various bonuses. Attack them with recommended Salutor (Upyr in the example from our screenshot) to deprive them of the Trait.
3. Additionally, try to remove the entire Focus of individual shadows, but only if they have few points of it (e.g. maximum 3-4). With Focus removed, you can perform a Strong Attack on the target.

1. Watch the turn order at the top of the screen. In addition to scheduled Shadow turns, Veles planned actions will also appear there.
2. Veles can apply a status on shadows that gives them a chance of dealing double the damage. Pay attention to the turn order to prepare better for incoming attacks. You can additionally try to delay or nullify them by using your abilities.
3. At the end of each turn, you will also receive random damage from Veles (1-10 points), which cannot be mitigated. In case of need, be ready to heal Wiktor at the beginning of each queue.

Rewards for defeating the boss

1. After defeating Veles, you need to do a follow-up to the Taming Darkness story quest. The follow-up involves meeting Rasputin in Powazki district and letting him tame Veles. Only from this moment can Veles participate in battles on Wiktor's side. Additionally, new Word Dimension abilities will become available.
2. Finally, you'll receive XP and unlock the Scheming Flaw (permanent increase to Word Dimension by 1).
